Video Transcript:
I wanted to make a quick video about what it looks like to accept a referral that comes to me directly, which means I am in someone's Waterfall or I have an existing referral partner who invites me directly to a case.
The most important thing to know about direct referrals is that they are free for both the referring and the referee/prospect attorney. Since this is between existing referral partners, we don’t charge that $299 match fee for any of these direct referrals.
When I receive a new referral that comes to me directly, I will get an email notification. But for now, I will log into my Attorney Share account to show you what it looks like on the platform.
In my referral section, I will see the case in my "Needs Action" section. This "Needs Action" section is divided into further subsections that match these tabs here, which means that this is a case I have been invited to. So, if there are multiple cases in this "Needs Action" section, I will see further classification. I can click this little care icon to expand the information and go directly to the case profile.
When I click into this case, there is a lot of information for me to review. First, I see the name and description of the case, the process stage, and any other fields that the referring attorney may have included. I will also see the contact information directly for that referring attorney, and I can send them a case message directly.
If I do send them a case message, it will populate in the case messages section rather than the direct messages.
Another thing I can do once a case is sent to me is add one of my Case Managers. Let’s add this other Case Manager I have on my firm. This just ensures that, down the line, if I am unable to take action or I’m busy, that Case Manager can step in and do essentially all of the same things I am about to show you.
The next step on this case would be either to accept, reject, or counteroffer the referral, which are the options I have here. I can reject this referral, accept it as is, or send a counteroffer on the 33% referral fee. Let’s say I am going to go ahead and accept it.
Give it a second to refresh... Beautiful! Now I can see the negotiation history on this case. It says, “Congrats, you have reached an agreement,” and, most importantly, I can now see the contact information for the client. I have the option to get in touch with that client, review all the case materials, and decide if I’m going to sign them or not.
Regardless of whether a case comes to me from the marketplace or a Waterfall, I still have this option. I have a 30-day timer to confirm, “Yes, I signed the client” or “No, I didn’t.” This is also why I will still see this case in my "Needs Action" section. Now, it is under a "Matched" subsection because it’s also living over here in the "Matched" section, but it still needs some action from me.
So, when I select "No, I did not sign" or "Yes, I signed," the case will move either into the "Signed" section or into the "Inactive" section if I decide not to take it on.
That’s a basic description of what it looks like to take on a case that comes to you from a Waterfall.
As always, feel free to email support@attorneyshare.com if you have any additional questions.
