Today, I’m going to walk you through the process of creating a new account on the platform. Attorney Share allows multiple users to be nested under the same firm/organization.
The most important aspect is that there must be at least one active attorney with a valid bar license in good standing within their state for the firm. Ideally, the first user to create the account should be a licensed attorney, which is what I’ll demonstrate today.
I will be using sample information, as I am not a licensed attorney, but the process will remain the same.
To get started, go to attorneyshare.com and click on “Create Account.” The next step is to enter your information. We ask that all users within the same firm use the same email domain, so it’s easiest to use your firm’s professional email.
Once you’ve entered your email and created a password, you’ll be asked to provide your law firm information. This information will serve as the public-facing bio for your firm. Be sure to fill it out completely, especially if you’re looking to connect with new referral partners and take on new cases. You can always update this information later.
You’ll also be asked to specify the case management software you use. While not all integrations are live yet, having this information on file helps us keep you updated when new integrations are launched. For now, I’ll select Clio, which is an integration that’s already available.
Once your firm information is entered, proceed to add an attorney to the account. To take any actions on cases or referrals, there must be at least one active attorney in the firm.
After completing these steps, you’ll receive an email verification. Once you confirm your email, you’ll be able to complete your profile. You can always come back to edit this information later, but it’s important to fill it out as much as possible at this stage. We’ll go over how to optimize your profile in a separate video.
You’ll be prompted to select your practice area and provide your educational background. This is the information that will be displayed on your member directory profile, so it’s important to keep it up-to-date if you plan to connect with new clients or referral partners.
In the profile setup, you can also set your notification preferences. Attorney Share will send alerts whenever new cases are posted to the marketplace in your jurisdiction. You can choose to be notified via email, text, or both. You can always modify these preferences later.
Once your account setup is complete, you’ll be able to log in. If you don’t have immediate access to the marketplace, that’s because we perform bar verification upon sign-up for all new users.
For users with a real bar license, this typically takes just a few minutes, but it could take up to a day if manual verification is required. Rest assured, our team monitors these requests and processes them promptly.
Once the bar license is verified, your account will be fully active, and you’ll have access to the marketplace and all other tabs on the platform.
Next, we’ll cover how to add a new member to your firm, whether they are an attorney or case manager. This will be discussed in a separate video.
